squad updates #1

Hair and Makeup provisions for non-white actors has been a major focus this year, and the squad have hosted a webinar in conjunction with Equity for agents. We are also looking to partner with the CDG, PACT, BECTU and other industry groups on this and have started these discussions.

The squad are working closely with actors' representatives in the United States and other countries who are also prioritising this issue so we can develop a more global solution.

We are on a mission to speak to everyone involved in the industry from Actors and Unions to Producers and Commissioners and connect the dots between them.

This is a key issue for us and further updates from our work on this will be coming soon.

Recently we have surveyed over 1,300 non-white actors about their experiences in the industry and are currently looking at the data to understand future areas of focus for the squad.

While the squad continues to frequently connect with other key groups in the industry, we are also keen to continue occasional open sessions like the one we led last year with 3rd year non-white drama school students to address their questions about the industry moving forward.

As always, we continue to lead the way as a resource for the wider PMA as the first port of call to discuss any sensitive issues around race that may arise and advising PMA members accordingly.
